Living with the Koskos

For the ten weeks I spent interning at the Modesto Bee, I rented a room from another fellow photographer, Steve Kosko. Steve and his wife Carmelita welcomed me into their home and family (they have three other children near my age - John, Terri, and Marion) so that I became more of an adopted child/sister. Living with them was quite an experience so I've documented some of the moments of being a Kosko.

Cattle Drive in Oakdale, Calif.

To celebrate its centennial as a town, Oakdale hosted a cattle drive down one of its main streets. People lined the sidewalks to see cowboys and girls of all ages herd 40 cattle along the road.

Our CHILE site got launched! Stories from the Atacama Desert, which is in the northern part of Chile. So much fun, so many good memories, and lots of great work!

A Wild Goose Chase

This is a photo/audio project I tag-teamed with another Modesto Bee photographer, Bart Ah You. It is about geese who were relocated from Modesto to the hills, and just as the process was almost finished, they disappeared down the mountainside.... rather controversial.

During the Heat Wave

People went swimming in the river by the tracks to cool off.

A lot of dairy cows died during the heat wave.

Paul Liddy has been living at the Salvation Army in Modesto, Calif., for the past two months. Although he is the only one there now, the organization will be expanding its facilities so it can provide services to more people (7/11/06).
